What You’ll Learn at this Mentorship

Whether you have an arsenal of exercises you’re not sure how to best use, or you’re confused by all of the conflicting information and the concepts in the periodization books that don’t apply to the personal training setting – Nick Tumminello will provide you with his battle-tested training methods and systems to give you clear, simple and practical programming direction you’ve been looking for!

Here’s an overview and what you’ll take away from this 3-day mentorship program.

Assessment and Exercise Prescription: A Simple (and Sensible) Approach

Nick’s refreshingly easy and scientifically founded approach to assessment and exercise prescription that will show you how to find a safe and individualized training direction (without getting caught up trying to play to ‘corrective therapy’ game).

Some of what you’ll learn:

  • What should and shouldn’t be the MOST important concern for trainers during an assessment to decide on exercises prescription.
  • Nick’s 4 rules of training for individualization and safety
  • Nick’s 3 exercise modification and regression strategies to better personalize exercises
  • How Nick deals with training clients who have pain
  • Nick’s simple strategy for dealing with asymmetries.
  • The 3 types of compensations: Which to type train, which to avoid and the easy way to identify the specific type.

The Functional Spectrum Training Model

If you have a multi-factorial goal, which is what most people fitness professionals are working with have, like gaining strength while improving athletic movement (most athletes), or to build a better looking body that can also get things done (most clients), then you need to train with a multi-factorial approach. Unfortunately, most training books and program design resources are focused on one end of the training spectrum or the either. This has caused each of the foundational types of exercise to be looked at as mutually exclusive when they really should be viewed as part of the same training spectrum. And, be programmed together as complimentary training components since each type exercise offers unique benefits the other types of exercise falls short on.

Put simply, improving overall health, physique and functional capacity (i.e., performance) requires several different training components because no single type of training will be ever able to fully address such multi-factorial demands. With the reality in mind, it makes sense that taking a mixed approach to exercise programming – an approach that utilizes the entire functional spectrum of training – will provide superior training results to clients and athletes than exclusively using only one type of exercise. Hence the reason why Nick developed and utilizes the functional spectrum training model.

Some of what you’ll learn:

  • The four types of foundational exercises in the functional spectrum training model.
  • The benefits and limitations of using each type of exercise.
  • The two categories each type of exercise falls into and how this should impact your programming.
  • How to use the Functional spectrum training model to ensure every workout you design for clients and athletes is as well-rounded and as fully-comprehensive as possible.

Practical Workout Design for Individual and Semi-Private Training

Everything you need to know about using Nick’s simple, but highly effective “plug-and-play” training system that offers a fully customizable programming framework for designing on-going personal and small-group training workouts your clients will love.

Some of what you’ll learn:

  • The 5 stages of a fully comprehensive workout
  • How to use Nick’s “3×3 Lift/Move” training formula
  • How to blend the training consistency clients need to progress while giving them the variety they crave to enjoy their workouts and keep coming back.
  • Nick’s “Local-Mobile” approach resistance exercises and how to use it to maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of your workouts.

The Motherload of Exercise Applications

With hundreds of different exercises options and training tools out there, it can be confusing which exercise applications offer the most value. Throughout this mentorship, Nick will show you his top exercise applications for every aspect of training from warm-up to power and strength training.

Some of what you’ll learn:

  • Nick’s top warm-up and mobility drills.
  • Nick’s favorite power training exercises along with how to use his 3-stage power training progression model.
  • Nick’s “go-to” pushing, pulling, lower-body and core strength training exercises along with coaching points for each.
  • Nick’s favorite conditioning protocols and fitness challenges.
  • Nick’s favorite cool-down methods.
